Government invites consultation on licencing process

The Saudi government has publicly invited interested parties to offer their views on the future licencing of telecommunications providers in the Kingdom. The Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (SCITC) plans to award new licences next year. The Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has enjoyed a monopoly on wireline services since it was spun off from the Ministry of Post, Telegraph and Telephone (MoPTT) in May 1998.
