TeliaSonera to trial new mobile content distribution platform

28 Nov 2003

Scandinavia’s largest telco TeliaSonera has said it will begin piloting a new mobile content distribution system called iJack at the start of December. iJack has been developed in conjunction with WideRay, a Silicon Valley-based development company in which TeliaSonera has a stake. It will use Bluetooth technology to distribute music, video, games and information packages to TeliaSonera’s mobile customers via an iJackTM device, which the company plans to deploy in public locations such as shopping centres and movie theatres. The pilot, which will incorporate movie distributor Finniko and mobile equipment store Telering, will support a range of Nokia’s Bluetooth-enabled handsets including the 3650, 3660, 6600, 7650 and N-Gage.
