3 set to miss pre-Xmas pre-pay opportunity

Following recent reports of poor subscription levels and disgruntled customers, the UK’s beleaguered third-generation mobile operator 3 has suffered another setback following press reports that it is struggling with its plans to have ‘pay as you go’ handsets in the nation’s stores in time for Xmas. The Hutchison Whampoa subsidiary had hoped to put around 50,000 of Motorola’s A920 terminals on the shelves in the run-up to the festive period, but reports suggest the new handsets and payment options will now not be showcased until the New Year.
