Portugal’s telecoms regulator has announced that it expects to see 3G services take off in the country in 2004, announcing plans for a trial service to be initiated in January and commercial launch planned for June. The country’s three 3G operators – TMN, Optimus and Vodafone Telecel – however, have expressed doubts over whether they will meet the proposals, claiming that a lack of equipment has prevented them from progressing with the development of the technology.
