Anatel approves sale of Vesper

21 Nov 2003

Brazilian regulator Anatel has approved the sale of fixed wireless carrier Vesper to telco Embratel Participaçoes. When the deal goes ahead Embratel hopes to use Vesper – which holds local licences in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as well as 15 states in the southeast, northeast and northern regions of the country – to provide broadband services to businesses. Under the terms of the agreement, Embratel will return the local concessions it owns within Vesper’s operating regions to the regulator.
