Public and private sector to jointly invest in broadband super highway

The South Korean Information and Telecommunication Ministry has said it has reached agreement with the nation’s leading carriers to jointly invest KRW2.1 trillion into the nation’s multimedia network. Under the deal, the state will spend KRW990.5 billion over the next seven years upgrading the Broadband convergence Network (BcN), with the private sector agreeing to invest KRW1.2 trillion. The funds will see capacity on the country’s nationwide 2Mbps internet network expanded to between 50Mbps and 100Mbps.
