Optus launches first mobile TV

10 Nov 2003

SingTel Optus has launched Australia’s first TV via mobile phone offering, enabling users with one of its five video streaming-enabled handsets to access the channels ABC, SBS and CNN live on their phones. However, the country’s second biggest cellco is unable to bill customers for the service under Australia’s current Broadcast Act. Optus charges for its other value-added services, including downloadable ringtones and games.
