German equipment manufacturer Siemens has been awarded a USD40 million contract to expand the GSM network of Oman’s Omantel along the main highways linking the cities of Muscat, Nizwa, Ibri, Beidbeid and Sur. The award marks the second contract Siemens has received from Omantel, having expanded the operator’s infrastructure in 2001 to enable the introduction of pre-paid services.
