3G licensing may face further delays

5 Nov 2003

A report by The Bejing Morning Post has suggested that the country’s regulator, the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), may not now issue its first 3G licences until 2005. The article cited an unnamed source at the MII, who claimed that whilst the government had finished its first stage of 3G lab tests, field trials could take a further year to be completed, putting the expected 2004 licensing date into jeopardy.
