Embratel looks to expand

29 Oct 2003

Brazilian telco Embratel has said that it is interested in making acquisitions in Argentina, Chile and Colombia in a bid to expand its international reach. The operator recently lost on in the bidding for bankrupt AT&T Latin America (ATTL), but says it has not been put off and still plans to extend in the future. Embratel posted a net profit of BRL15 million (USD5 million) for the third quarter of 2003, reversing a loss of BRL550 million the previous year.
