Government begins telecoms privatisation

17 Oct 2003

Lebanon’s Higher Council for Privatisation has today launched the auction and tender process for the privatisation of the country’s mobile market. It hopes the process will help it to cut public debt, which currently stands at around 175% of GDP. A shortlist of participants have been invited to start a 60-day review period with finalist bidders expected to be announced by year-end.
