Nokia wins network double

Nokia has scored a brace of contracts from Thai wireless operators. Under the first deal, Total Access Communication (DTAC) awarded Nokia a contract to enhance its GSM/GPRS-1800 network. The deal includes delivery of EDGE-enabled base stations as well as high capacity base station controllers. In the second deal AIS awarded Nokia a USD23 million order for equipment to expand its GSM network in the Northern, Central and Southern regions of Thailand. The deal includes the activation of EDGE in non-voice strategic cities such as Changmai and Phuket.
