15 Oct 2003

More than 700,000 Samsung handsets that double as credit cards have been sold in South Korea, according to media reports. The phones can be used to pay for goods by sending the user’s bank details to a shop checkout via infa red, rather than the conventional swipe of a credit card, and boast security features including a pin-code function and the high-speed disabling of lost or stolen handsets.
