Orange selects 3G trio

17 Sep 2003

Orange has confirmed it has signed non-binding agreements with three equipment vendors for the supply of 3G radio access network equipment. However, it has claimed that reports in the press as to the value of the deal are incorrect. The trio – Alcatel, Nokia and Nortel Networks – jumped the gun by preempting Orange’s announcement. Nortel was reported in the French press as having won a EUR800 million deal, while Alcatel announced it had won the bulk of the 3G deal in France and would be a major provider for the UK network.
