Double one what?

According to figures released by the BT Group this week, calls from its lines to the full array of 118 directory enquiry numbers are down by 45% year-on-year; calls to the 118 numbers averaged 530,000 a day in the two weeks following liberalisation. BT claims the fall is a result of recent regulatory changes which, it maintains, has resulted in ‘customer confusion and concerns about price and quality’. Oftel has countered the incumbent’s assertions by claiming it was too early to deem the change a failure, insisting that many customers now make use of web-based directory services.
