Mobile tender delayed

16 Sep 2003

The government of Trinidad and Tobago has pushed back a planned auction of a second mobile licence, after more than 30 companies expressed an interest in bidding. The government is now expected to publish a request for proposals before the end of the year, rather than the earlier suggested date of September. The second licensee will compete with incumbent TSTT, whose TDMA-based network has in the region of 452,000 customers.
