The Australian arm of the UK’s largest telco Vodafone is reportedly in talks with the country’s largest telcos, with a view to forming a joint venture partnership to offer 3G mobile phone services by mid-2005. According to Vodafone Australia MD Grahame Maher, his company is in talks with Telstra, SingTel Optus and Huchison Telecom; a decision is expected to be made by the end of the year. Analysts believe that the most likely partner is Hutchison, which has already rolled out parts of its 3G network across the country.
