Taiwan Cellular’s owners to unravel ownership knot

11 Aug 2003

Taiwan Cellular (TCC) shareholder, the Tsai family has said it is willing to sell its interest in the wireless operator in order to help a foreign strategic investor take control of the company. Fixed line player Taiwan Fixed Network (TFN) holds a 30% in TCC, which could also be up for grabs, while the Tsai family holds 10% through four subsidiaries and another 10% directly. TCC in turn owns 10% of TFN’s shares. The moves are seen as the first steps to disentangling the complex ownership structures of the companies.
