Texas Instruments deal prompts Sendo to drop suit against Orange

23 Jul 2003

UK handset manufacturer Sendo has dropped its legal action against French cellco Orange, following a private agreement. The vendor had been claiming that Orange infringed upon its circuit board patents in the design of its SPV smartphone, which was launched last year. The UK company’s announcement follows last Friday’s patent licensing deal struck with Texas Instruments ‘related to smartphone technology’, which is believed to have weakened Sendo’s claims against Orange. All parties say details of the agreements are confidential, but Sendo has agreed to contribute to Orange’s legal costs.
