Japanese equipment supplier NEC has revealed that it expects to see a substantial rise in the sales of its 3G base stations in the business year to the end of March 2004, following an increase in orders from Hutchison Whampoa’s mobile divisions in the UK and Hong Kong. The company hopes that the additional sales will boost its 3G business. Meanwhile, semiconductor unit NEC Electronics Corp has sold JPY143 billion of shares, completing the country’s largest IPO this year.
