4 Jul 2003

French telecom regulator ART has said it will hold discussions this summer with the nation’s third-generation (3G) mobile licensees about introducing a new schedule for the rollout of commercial services. ART chairman Paul Champsaur said that due to a series of delays in developing and testing the relevant 3G technologies, the regulating body would consider suggestions from carriers regarding alterations to the schedule, though was keen to point out that the regulator would make sure France doesn’t lag behind other European countries in the race to commercialise 3G services.
