Hutchison delays Hong Kong 3G launch by two months

1 Jul 2003

Hutchison Whampoa has revised the launch date of its 3G mobile service in Hong Kong to August, two months later than originally scheduled. The telco claims that the delay is due to: ‘overwhelming consumer response to 3 in Europe and Australia (which) has given rise to an unexpectedly strong demand for 3G handsets, resulting in handsets being shipped to these markets first’.
