SMARTS on acquisition road

Samara-based wireless operator Middle-Volga Interregional Association of Radio and Telecommunication Systems (SMARTS) is in talks to acquire mobile operators in the Central, North Western, Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia. According to the company’s Director General Gannady Kiryushin, SMARTS is also expecting to receive a licence for the Moscow area in the near future. As it stands SMARTS boasts 800,000 customers to 16 networks scattered across the regions of Astrakhan, Volvograd, Ivanovo, Penza and Ulyanovsk and in the constituent republic of Chuvashiya.
