Telstra to invest in bush telecoms

4 Jun 2003

Australian fixed line incumbent Telstra has announced a AUD231 million investment in 2003/04 to improve services to regional areas. Some of the finds will be spent on the installation of 103 new CDMA base stations in rural areas, which will increase coverage of its CDMA network to more than 20% of Australia’s landmass by June 2004. The company also plans to begin offering ISDN to rural communities, at prices comparable to ADSL tariffs.
