T-Mobile strikes coffee shop deal

29 May 2003

Following a successful pilot of W-LANs in a Berlin coffee shop, T-Mobile Deutschland and coffee retailer Starbucks have announced plans to rollout hotspots across the country. The launch of services in German Starbucks concessions is part of the cellco’s wider global launch of wireless internet access in public areas. The service has already taken off in the US, where by the end of this year it expects Starbucks to have around 2,000 hotspots in operation connected to the T-Mobile network.
