Virgin reports most successful quarter yet

28 May 2003

Richard Branson’s UK mobile operator Virgin Mobile has confirmed its status as the country’s fastest-growing operator. Q1 2003 revenues exceeded GBP1 million a day and the company’s customer base grew to 2.6 million; it expects to sign its three millionth customer this year. Virgin has attributed this success to its policy of cheaper rates, no line rental and good customer service at a time when other mobile operators have experienced a decline. The company has opened a second customer service centre in Middlesbrough in order to cope with increasing demand; it expects growth to continue throughout 2003, forecasting end of year revenues of GBP450 million.
