TeleAccess shortlisted in Second National Operator selection process

19 May 2003

Zimbabwean firm TeleAccess has been named as one of the leading candidates to take a 51% stake in South Africa’s second fixed line telecoms network, the rollout of which is due to begin later this year. The network is expected to take ten years to build at a cost of around ZAR4 billion. In December 2002 TeleAccess was awarded a second carrier’s licence in Zimbabwe and was due to launch services on 1 June this year. However, this week the company revealed it will miss the deadline due to delays with the delivery of technical equipment.
