Papua New Guinea goes digital

Papua New Guinea cellco Pacific Mobile Communications (PMC) is preparing to bring the country’s telecoms sector in line with its neighbours with the launch its PGK34 million digital GSM-900 mobile phone service next month, with SMS texting and post-paid billing services to follow later in the year. PMC currently has around 3,000 subscribers to its analogue service.
