Chunghwa Telecom shares up for sale... again

The long-running saga of the privatisation of Taiwanese PTO Chunghwa Telecom rumbles on as the government attempts once again to sell more shares. The state holds an 81.41% stake in Chunghwa, but aims to dispose of 5% in an ‘after hours’ auction which will run until 16 April; investors have thus far been reluctant to plough cash into the telco but the government is undeterred, claiming that selling off Chunghwa in small increments is better than not at all.
