DoCoMo catching J-Phone in camera-phone race

8 Apr 2003

Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo has said that the number of people using its camera-phones has broken the nine million barrier, putting it within touching distance of its rival J-Phone which holds top spot with 9.015 million. However, it took Vodafone-backed J-Phone over two years to reach nine million users while DoCoMo has reached the milestone in just ten months. Although J-Phone has pioneered the technology, it looks like DoCoMo will sneak in and take the number one position in what is shaping up to be a competitive market.
