TDSAT attempts to mediate WiLL dispute between India’s cellcos and fixed line providers

7 Apr 2003

India’s Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) is attempting to resolve the bitter feud between the country’s cellcos and fixed line operators over the provision of WiLL services. TDSAT is calling for the government to make documentation surrounding the process publicly available. Cellcos want the service banned, claiming it discriminates against them, whilst wireline operators – many of which have already invested heavily in WiLL – are looking for it to be cleared of all legal hurdles. The telecoms ministry is refusing to make the documentation available, claiming that it contains ‘confidential material’.
