Finnish vendor Nokia has said it is merging four joint ventures in China in a bid to boost efficiency. Nokia, which is ranked second behind Motorola in terms of handset sales in the world’s biggest market, plans to locate the headquarters of the new operation in Beijing and hopes the move will strengthen its cooperation with local partners. The manufacturer also plans to start producing CDMA handsets for the Chinese market in an effort to close the gap with its American rival.
