Italy - interconnection rates down, last mile charges unchanged

3 Mar 2003

Italy’s telecoms regulator, the Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni (AGC) last week decided to cut interconnection fees by between 14.5% and 18.6%, but elected not to lower last mile tariffs. The move comes as a blow to the country’s alternative operators, particularly to Wind and Albacom which have built out their own networks but do not have last mile connections.
