China says handset prices set to fall by 32%

In 2003 the cost of buying a handset in the world’s largest mobile market China could fall by as much as 32% as suppliers fight for market share amid a glut of available models. Prices have already fallen by an average of 22% to USD189, and local manufacturers such as TCL Mobile Communications, and Ningbo Bird are slashing prices to take market share from the heavyweights Motorola and Nokia.
