FCC postpones local telephony ruling

11 Feb 2003

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has postponed the announcement of its revision of local telecoms competition laws until 20 February. The decision gives FCC commissioners one more week to finalise the much-anticipated new rules, after claiming that more time was needed to examine last-minute filings by a number of involved parties. It is thought that current rules insisting established operators share their networks with new entrants will be coming under the most intense scrutiny.
