Freeserve takes Oftel to court

21 Jan 2003

Freeserve has requested that the UK’s Competition Commission Appeal Tribunal review Oftel’s decision to reject its March 2002 complaint against BT’s broadband marketing campaign. Freeserve’s grievance claimed that BT Openworld was given advanced notice of BT’s decision to cut wholesale broadband access by 40%, allowing it to prepare a marketing strategy in advance of its rivals. Oftel’s decision to reject the complaint will be considered by the tribunal; if it finds in favour of Freeserve the matter is likely to be referred back to the telecoms regulator.
