20 Jan 2003

Equipment vendor Motorola has closed the gap on Finnish rival Nokia in the US handset market, accounting for 19 million of the 72 million handsets sold in the country in 2002. According to a survey by Telecom Trends International, Motorola’s share of its home market leapt from 20.8% in 2001 to 26% last year. That puts it less than a percentage point behind Nokia, whose share fell from 32% to 26.5% in the same period.
