The New Year has brought telecoms equipment vendors a trio of contracts for 3G infrastructure. Ericsson secured two; the first from Indonesian giant PT Telekom to supply its cdma2000 1X equipment to 631,800 lines in the Jabotabek region, an area which includes Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi. The second contract, signed with TDC Mobil of Denmark, will involve the supply of WCDMA equipment; deliveries are expected to begin later this month. A third deal has been signed between Nokia and Taiwan Cellular. The Finnish supplier will provide both 3G core and radio access network equipment for the roll out and introduction of a WCDMA network.
