Ericsson and Telenor mobile sign an MMS agreement to make you drool

17 Dec 2002

Telenor Mobile, the cellular subsidiary of Norway’s Telenor [TEL.OL], has signed a global framework agreement with Ericsson [Nasdaq: ERICY] for cooperation on its Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) network. Under the terms of the agreement the Swedish equipment vendor will provide the MMS platform alongside related systems and network integration services across all Telenor Mobile’s operations in Europe and Asia. In those areas where Telenor has already launched MMS, the service will be moved to the new network.

Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson, Ericsson’s joint-owned mobile venture with Sony of Japan, has launched a major new multimedia marketing initiative across Europe as it attempts to boost dwindling profits and market share in the run-up to Christmas. The ‘Drool’ adverts and regional websites have been created by Amsterdam advertising agency StrawberryFrog in a bid to attract teenagers and young adults to Sony Ericsson’s new T300 photo messaging phone.
